Client for a MySQL DBA for a 3 month contract, likely to extend in Sacramento, Ca. If you meet the below requirements.

 

Job Description:  

Seeking a MySQL DBA with 5+ years of experience to install, administer, troubleshoot and tune multiple MySQL environments running on SLES 9. The candidate should also have experience with MySQL upgrades and conversions. Candidate should possess excellent organization and communication skills and be able to produce various technical documents such as conversion procedures and backup and recovery instructions.

 

Primary Responsibilities:  

 

·                  Install, configure and validate MySQL 5.1.50 Advanced across multiple SLES 9 environments.

·                  Setup and maintain MySQL replication across multiple data centers.

·                  Execute multiple MySQL version upgrades from 5.0.44 SP1 to 5.1.50 Advanced.

·                  Create data driven Linux shell scripts to support DBA tasks.

·                  Proactively monitor server and database process health to ensure availability and performance.

·                  Produce technical documentation.

 

Required Qualifications:

·                  Bachelors degree

·                  MySQL DBA Certification preferred but ok without certification

·                  Proven experience administering medium to large 64-bit MySQL databases in a 24x7  enterprise SAN based multi-data center environment, including installation, configuration, backup, recovery and tuning.

·                  Proven experience with both MyISAM Compressed and InnoDB engines.

·                  Proven MySQL replication setup and administration experience.

·                  Proven Linux/UNIX experience, including shell scripting.

·                  Proven experience planning and executing MySQL version upgrades.

·                  Deep understanding of SQL statement tuning.

·                  Proven ability to work in global environments with counterparts in remote offices.

·                  Resourceful, responsible, flexible, able to work unsupervised and dedicated to quality of work.
